The photograph was not taken because I saw the letters A and H four times, that only came later when looking at the photo. Let me jump right away from the image. Psychologists approach to the troubled topic of intelligence over the last 100 years has resulted in two main ways of describing human mental abilities, the first of these is to create a general quotient that gives a reasonable fit to our prejudices in the matter - probably the most useful of these is Raven’s Progressive Matrices, it gives a quick indicator of general mental functioning which correlates quite well with more investigatory approaches. The second approach, used by educational psychologists, is to distinguish between a range of mental abilities in areas such as the numeric, spacial, pattern recognition and, language, and to assess these separately. Seeing the photograph above as having a linguistic connected pattern might conceivably be part of such an assessment. One of the foremost of these tests was that devised by the Cambridge psychologist Alice Heim: it is known as AH4.
